Photo-a-Day Blog

So I’ve decided to try something new. I take quite a few pictures in general, but never seem to do anything with them except put them on my computer, and occasionally the blog.

Starting today (my birthday), and hopefully continuing for one year, I’ll post one photo each day to my ‘Photo-A-Day’ blog here. Now if you don’t want to keep tabs there, I am going to try and post them here about once a week or two, and I also plan on adding them to my flickr, which I haven’t uploaded to in almost two years. There should also be a tweet @ericmblog once a day with a link.

Now, I’m not doing this with the intent that the images are taken the day they are posted, or that there won’t be multiple images for the same day/event mixed in there.

Some images will be duplicates from ones already on my flickr stream, or that I have posted to this blog before. Some will be ‘very’ old, some will be brand new. The overall intent is for me to start posting content that has been ‘locked away’ on my computer, and to push me to try and make new pictures on a more regular basis. I am ‘preloading’ the system with 100+ images from my archives, and have setup a script that will automatically publish an image from that backlog each day, so even when I don’t have access or time to post a new image, a new one will still be published. I hope this will make it more likely I will succeed, that I way I can just spend a bit of time once every week or two posting new images, and not have to have the hassle of doing it by hand daily.

Because of the demands of posting 365 images in as many days, I don’t expect all, or even many of the images to necessarily be great, but I’ll only post images that I am drawn to, and will try to keep the standard at or above ‘decent’ :)

I do want feedback, but positive and negative. I want to improve my photography, and I can only do that with feedback. You can comment at the PAD blog, here when I post the periodic updates, or on my flickr stream, so please do (anywhere – It doesn’t need to be at all of those…).

Well – here we go…
